Principal Guest Conductor Andrew Manze offers music telling of three very different places: rural Sweden, royal Spain and imperial Vienna. At its heart – perhaps the most famous piece ever written for guitar – Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez. It was inspired by the palace and gardens as Rodrigo – blind from birth – experienced them: through touch, floral scents and the sounds of birdsong and fountains.

Join us for an enchanting evening of horn music performed by the talented Yui Ginther at the Northwestern Bienen School of Music. This special student recital will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 8:30pm CDT in the Regenstein Master Class Room. Yui, a Bachelor of Music student under the guidance of Gail Williams and Jonathan Boen, will showcase her skills alongside pianist Kay Kim. The program includes a selection of works that pay homage to the Greek Muses by Dana Wilson, the Romanza, Op. 59 by Jan Koetsier, Carl Nielsen's Canto serioso, and the Concertino, Op. 45 by Lars-Erik Larsson.

This event is free and open to the public, with no tickets required. It's a wonderful opportunity to support emerging talent and experience the vibrant musical community at the Bienen School of Music. The Regenstein Master Class Room, with seating for 200, is located in the Regenstein Hall of Music, adjacent to the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts at 60 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston, IL 60208. Join the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, conductor Anthony Parnther, and special guests for an evening that uplifts and amplifies community. The concert features GRAMMY® Award winner Oleta Adams, whose gospel-rooted voice has graced era-defining albums like Tears For Fears’ "The Seeds of Love” (1989) and her own platinum-selling “Circle of One” (1990).
