Let the melodies and harmonies take you to familiar and unknown places, from new works to contemporary to classical. This concert features two of our 23-24 Creator Corps Members, so you will get to hear music from living composers! Step back in time and relive the golden era of music with “Nat King Cole Christmas” presented by Magic 101.3. This special concert, set to take place at The Louisville Palace Theatre on December 20, 2023, at 7:30 PM, is a tribute to the legendary Nat King Cole. Conducted by Gabriel Lefkowitz and featuring Terri Lyne Carrington on drums as the Music Director, the evening promises a mix of holiday and iconic songs performed by a stellar array of Grammy-honored musicians and all-stars from the music and theater worlds. With historical images, TV footage, and Nat’s most memorable hits, this concert is both an aural and visual homage to a musical icon.

Experience the timeless beauty of Johann Sebastian Bach’s renowned Brandenburg Concertos, showcasing the composer’s brilliant orchestration and diverse instrumental combination. The program offers various musical styles and instrumental combinations, from the spirited Concerto No. 1 with oboes, horns, and violin solos to the elegant Concerto No. 5, highlighted by harpsichord, flute, and violin. Our “In Harmony” tour concerts of 2023 are a celebration of Kentucky and Americana, the traditional and the new, the spirited and the serene. The Louisville Orchestra — under the baton of Teddy Abrams — brings an exciting program of orchestral favorites and thrilling new works to residents all over the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Bernstein kicks it off with his hugely popular Overture to Candide, Rossini gives us a bit of “Hi Ho Silver” in his William Tell Overture, and Tchaikovsky wraps up the program with his rousing 1812 Overture. Experience contemporary pieces by two composers of the LO’s Creators Corps: Kentucky native Tyler Taylor debuts new composition In Memory’s Safe — featuring fellow Creators Corps composer Lisa Bielawa as vocal soloist – alongside TJ Cole’s original work Megalopolis. Then, sing along with an arrangement of Blue Moon of Kentucky, and revel in the jazz themes of Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue, performed by Teddy Abrams conducting from the piano.

Fall in love at first listen! There are pieces of classical music that can touch your heart with such beauty and tenderness that it opens a whole new world of orchestral music. Here are two pieces of music that offer that profound experience. This special concert features LO Concertmaster Gabriel Lefkowitz as conductor and violin soloist, together with LO principal chair oboist Alexander Vvedenskiy in the spotlight. In addition, the audience will have the opportunity to hear a piece by LO Creators Corps member Tyler Taylor entitled Manifest.
