### Event Description: Play America - The Louisville Orchestra

**Date and Time:** Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM

Join us for an unforgettable evening of music, fun, and family entertainment at **Play America**, a spectacular outdoor concert presented by the Louisville Orchestra and Jasteka Cultural Center. This free event, conducted by Teddy Abrams, promises a delightful fusion of familiar light classics and pops musical selections.

**Event Schedule:**

- **5:30 PM - 7:30 PM: Family Field Activities**
  - Interactive stations including bouncy castles, games, face-painting, and walkabout performers.
  - A snow cone zone and picnic tables for a delightful outdoor picnic experience.
  - Special interactive games and an inflatable human foosball game in partnership with Louisville City FC.

- **8:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Louisville Orchestra Concert**
  - Enjoy the enchanting melodies of the Louisville Orchestra as they perform under the open sky.
  - Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for a comfortable concert experience.

**Special Highlights:**
- Performances of two original compositions by LO Creators Corps composers, Tyler Taylor and TJ Cole.
- A variety of food trucks and beverage trucks will be available for refreshments.
- Moon’s luxury portable restrooms and a hospitality tent offering water, sunscreen, and first aid will be available for guests.

Our Festival this year carries the title “Journeys of Faith”. Through a series of panel discussions pairing Jewish and Black pastors and clergy, our Festival sponsors and partners will seek to connect those Louisvillian communities through discussions of faith and life experience. Their goal is to enable a better understanding of one another and achieve connection through a renewed foundation of relationship. Musically the LO will explore the music of Jewish composer Leonard Bernstein and an important work by Joel Thompson based on the words of African-American writer James Baldwin. American music will welcome two brand new compositions to its ranks from our Creators Corps members, TJ Cole and Tyler Taylor.

The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts

The LO will explore the music of Jewish-American icon Leonard Bernstein and an important work by composer and educator Joel Thompson based on the words of African-American writer James Baldwin. The concert will also showcase the world premiere of Creators Corps Composer Tyler Taylor’s Revisions for saxophone ensemble and orchestra.
