He started his tenure as the Music Director of New York Youth Symphony Orchestra in Fall 2023. In this role, he works with talented young musicians to perform cornerstone repertoire and premiere works by young American composers three times a year at Carnegie Hall. In addition, he continues his passion for training young conductors through leading the Robert L. Poster Apprentice Conducting Program.

Andrew also serves on the faculty of the Conducting Institute, a comprehensive training program led by Miguel Harth-Bedoya. In this role, he teaches classes on aural skills, keyboard skills, and other topics, in addition to helping with curricular planning and execution.

Join us for an enchanting evening of choral music as Logan J. Henke takes the stage to conduct a masterful selection of works. This event, part of his Master of Music studies under the guidance of Andrew Megill, promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees. The program includes a diverse range of compositions, from the traditional arrangement of "Gabriel’s Message" by Jim Clements to the contemporary vibrance of Alex Berko's new work. Delve into the poetic depths of Paweł Łukaszewski's "Shakespeare Sonnets: I. Like as the waves" and experience the serene beauty of Ēriks Ešenvalds' "Earth Teach Me Quiet." The evening will also feature Jóhann Jóhannsson's poignant "The Last Foul Wind I Ever Knew" from Drone Mass, alongside classics like Heinrich Schütz's "Ich bin eine rufende stimme" from Geistliche Chormusik. Elliot Cole's "Visions: I Saw You Under the Fig Tree" and Arvo Pärt's "The Deer’s Cry" will add to the spiritual depth of the program, with traditional arrangements like "Carrickfergus" by Joshua Pacey and Orlando di Lassus' "Lagrime di San Pietro" rounding out the evening.

This event is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 7:30pm CDT in the Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall, located within the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts at 70 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston, IL 60208. The hall, known for its stunning acoustics and breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline, provides the perfect backdrop for this musical journey. Compositions with family ties take the Whitney stage, beginning with pre-existing works from the second generation of our Creators Corps family. Gabriel Kahane, well known for blurring the lines between rock and classical, has written a beautifully personal piano concerto for his father, acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Kahane. The piece, called Heirloom, will be performed with the LO by the senior Kahane. Our program ends with an orchestral adventure by popular minimalist composer John Adams whose third movement was inspired by a dream of his daughter (nicknamed Quackie) drifting along in the universe on the shoulder of the mysterious Mr. Eckhardt.
