“Are We Dreaming the Same Dream?” is an electrifying concert experience blurring the lines between classical, jazz, and contemporary music as the “pure gold” Akropolis Reed Quintet joins forces with the GRAMMY®-nominated composer and jazz pianist Pascal Le Boeuf and drummer Christian Euman. Giving themselves complete musical freedom, the seven musicians created a large-scale piece of music not possible in any other setting, flush with immense technicality and requiring perfect ensemble cohesiveness.

Monterey Jazz Festival brings together 20 of the most accomplished high school jazz musicians from across the country to form the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra (NGJO), directed by GRAMMY-nominated pianist and composer Gerald Clayton. Established in 1971, tenure in this year's NGJO culminates in a main stage performance in September at the Monterey Jazz Festival.

Ann Arbor’s own Akropolis Reed Quintet — composed of clarinet, oboe, saxophone, bass clarinet, and bassoon — joins forces with Grammy-nominated composer and jazz pianist Pascal Le Boeuf and celebrated drummer Christian Euman. Le Boeuf’s composition is inspired by his musical “ancestors” — Geri Allen, Dave Brubeck, Charles Mingus, and Leonard Bernstein — representing a variety of perspectives concerning the unity of the American experience. His composition asks: Are we really dreaming the same American dream, or is our consumer culture overshadowing our own sense of belonging?

The Le Boeuf Brothers are “talented musicians and award-winning composers who channel their influences, environments, and resources into works that reflect their own identities.” (All About Jazz).  Pianist Pascal Le Boeuf and saxophonist Remy Le Boeuf “pursue a hyper-fluent streamlined modern ideal” (New York Times) with “an impressive level of sophistication.” (San Francisco Chronicle). Together, they have received 6 GRAMMY nominations for their innovative compositional projects, which span as broadly stylistically as they do collaboratively.
