From the morning sun’s rays peeking over the horizon to a whirling dance In the Hall of the Mountain King, Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite has transported audiences to mythical landscapes for more than a century. Talented young musicians from the Youth Orchestra sit side-by-side with Boise Phil musicians on stage for this popular orchestral showpiece.

Last season’s Cartee Piano Concert was such a hit, we’re headed back to the museum! This time, the Boise Phil Woodwind Quintet + Langroise Trio will be performing. Before the concert, stroll the museum after hours, enjoy a special exhibit about historical instruments in the lobby, shop the gift store for Idaho-specifics products as well as grab a snack and drink from concessions.

Rachmaninoff the Romantic

Celebrate the magic and warmth of the holiday season with festive music! Hometown favorite Curtis Stigers is joining us this year. Known for his jazz influence and his unmistakable voice, he’s featured on a program of holiday classics and winter songs with plenty of festive cheer. Back by popular demand, the Boise Phil Master Chorale will take the stage for beloved classics and holiday concert must-haves. Sit back and enjoy the sounds of the season.

Then hear some of classical music’s most iconic themes. From its thunderous first four notes, Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto declares itself a work of high drama and passion. Prepare to be swept off your feet when Weiyin Chen* takes the stage for this Romantic tour-de-force.

For generations, chamber music has played a crucial role in the Basque classical music legacy, with Basque composers and performers creating a vast repertoire. The lively rhythms and evocative melodies of Basque folk music are an integral part of this chamber music tradition. Don’t miss out on this captivating and vibrant musical experience featuring the Oinkari Basque Dancers and the Biotzetik Choir.

Spring Chamber Concert (Concierto de Primavera)

We are thrilled to be joining forces with the Ballet Idaho in October 2024 to produce a unique performance of music and dance together on stage.

The Boise Phil will open the show with a tribute to classical ballet’s most iconic composer, Tchaikovsky, performing The Sleeping Beauty Suite.

In the second act, we will see the music take physical form with two very different choreographic and musical compositions. Opening the act is Terence Marling’s Twice  (Once) set to the gorgeous music of contemporary composer Anna Clyne’s Within Her Arms. This is a subtle, yet stirring piece that contemplates the afterlife, drawn from very personal experiences of both composer and choreographer.

Come revel in the vitality of three cornerstone works of the Romantic period.

Coleridge-Taylor’s “Ballade” is an arresting piece that reflects the melodic and harmonic influences of Tchaikovsky and Dvořák. You’ll experience this piece as talented young musicians from the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra take the stage alongside our professional musicians for an exceptional side-by-side performance.

Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 is a groundbreaking piece in the history of piano composition. Composed during Liszt’s ‘virtuoso years,’ this work serves as an inspirational showcase for our guest artists.

Join us for an evening of musical magic as we welcome Opera Idaho to join us for a spectacular pops concert celebrating show-stopping Broadway hits. This concert celebrates the rich and diverse world of musical theater, featuring stunning vocal performances and orchestral arrangements that will leave you breathless.
