The grandson and last professional musician of the Strauss dynasty, Eduard Strauss II, revived the idea of ​​the family orchestra by founding the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra. Since then, the orchestra has performed all over the world, presenting the works of the Strauss dynasty - above all the celebratory melodies of their artistic ancestors, the two "Waltz Kings", Johann Strauss (father) and Johann Strauss (son).

Program One opens with Ashton’s whimsical Varii Capricci, revived from the brink of loss by The Sarasota Ballet in 2019 and described by esteemed dance critic and writer Anna Kisselgoff as “that rare ballet bird – a self-parody and an honorable parody of The Royal Ballet’s own traditions.”  Continuing the program is Panoramic Score (World Premiere) by Gemma Bond, who enthralled Sarasota audiences last Season with her world premiere of Excursions. Dance critic, Marina Harss, has described Bond’s choreography as “expansive, lyrical, handsomely coordinated, with a focus on the beauty of the line of the body.”  Kobborg’s Salute then tells a loose story of soldiers going off to war and the girls they leave behind. About The Sarasota Ballet’s 2011 performance of Salute, dance critic Carrie Seidman wrote that the work was “fresh, funny, and styled after his Bournonville roots without being dated or derivative.”

Join us for an unforgettable evening of classical music and craft beer at "Beethoven & Brews," presented by the Spokane Symphony. This unique event will take place on May 18th at The Fox Theater, located at 1001 W Sprague Ave, Spokane, WA. Doors open at 6:30 pm, with the performance starting at 7:30 pm.

Under the baton of conductor Morihiko Nakahara and featuring the talented violinist Mateusz Wolski, the Spokane Symphony will perform an exquisite selection of Beethoven's masterpieces. The concert will include beloved works such as Symphony No.5 in C minor, Op. 67, King Stephen Overture, op.117, and the dramatic Symphony No.9 in D minor, Op.125, among others.

In addition to the musical feast, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide selection of beers from local microbreweries, including Whistle Punk Brewing, No-Li Brewhouse, YaYa Brewing Company, Brick West Brewing, Iron Goat Brewing, and Iron Horse Brewery. This event is open to all ages, making it a perfect evening out for music lovers and beer enthusiasts alike.
