**In The Works - Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music**

The evening will feature new compositions by the talented under-30 composers Daixuan Ai, Nick Bentz, and Ella Kaale. These fresh works will be brought to life by the award-winning Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, under the baton of six emerging conductors. These conductors are all participants in the prestigious Cabrillo Conductors/Composers Workshop, a professional training program dedicated to the creation and performance of new music.

This concert offers a rare opportunity to experience the future of orchestral music through the voices of young composers and the interpretative variations of emerging conductors. It's a celebration of creativity, innovation, and the dynamic energy of contemporary music.

As part of Maestro Stilian Kirov’s vision to encourage the development of new musical voices, Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra is the proud home of IPO Classical Evolve, aimed at expanding the canon of classical music for current and future generations. Beginning in 2023/24, IPO has partnered with Earshot, a program of the American Composers Orchestra, in partnership with the League of American Orchestras, American Composers Forum, and New Music USA. Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra will rehearse, perform and record select upcoming compositions for orchestra, offering selected participants the opportunity to collaborate with world class mentors Jessie Montgomery and James Stephenson, both established orchestral composers and industry leaders.
