Late summer nights are for passion, romance, and sometimes… fiery duels. Join us for a red-hot concert of “dueling” double-concertos, inspired by the art of fencing! Highlights include J.S. Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins; René Schiffer’s thrilling Tango Concerto for Two Violas da Gamba; a colorful suite by Rameau; and Telemann’s Concerto for Flute and Recorder, with its famous Polish folk-inspired finale. AF principal players including concertmaster Alan Choo take turns stepping into the spotlight in this evening of dazzling agility.

NEW PROGRAM! A famous coffeehouse in 18th-c. Leipzig was the scene of lively orchestra concerts led by J.S. Bach. Concertmaster and Assistant Artistic Director Alan Choo leads this year’s version, featuring Vivaldi’s mysterious concerto La Notte (“Night”), and three musical fencing matches: Telemann’s Concerto for Flute & Recorder, Bach’s Concerto for Oboe & Violin, and Brandenburg Concerto no. 6.
