We commemorate the legacy of those who participated in the Normandy Invasion of World War II in this musical memorial honoring our nation’s heroes, those who made the ultimate sacrifice in securing liberty and justice for all.  A date that lives in memory, June 6 is observed every year in Normandy, France as the military action by the Allies that started the end of the brutal second world war.  Joining Choral Artists is the Lakewood Ranch Wind Ensemble in this concert, highlighting music of poignant compassion and reflection that Choral Artists will be presenting in Normandy, France as invited musical guests for the 80th anniversary of D-Day in June, 2024.

Inspired by current events of 1914, poet Vachel Lindsay wrote Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight – a moving depiction of the famous President troubled by the tragedies of the modern world.  Florence Price, African-American composer of the 20th Century, set this dramatic poem in her lifetime but the score was lost for almost 50 years.  Only recently discovered, Choral Artists will be presenting the Florida premiere of this exciting work for soloist, chorus and full orchestra.  Paired with the work will be the Lord Nelson Mass by Joseph Haydn, one of his most revered choral works.  The original title was Mass in a Time of Anguish and the pairing of these two works is a reflection of our own time – a time of anguish and uncertainty.

As the soundtrack for movies, music is an integral part of the experience and underscores the dramatic intent, frequently adding the element that defines a character or scene.  We’ll highlight the hits from the movies in a creative medley featuring music from all genres of the movies plus a special look at movies that were inspired by music, notably Sister Act and Momma Mia!

Choral Artists presents a program that is spirit-filled with music featuring traditional favorites with harp and chorus plus a vibrant collection of African American Spirituals that define the season. The contrast of toe-tapping music with the angelic sounds of the harp create a mosaic of musical sounds that give new meaning to the Christmas season.

Presenting the songs that brought us hope and inspiration during military conflicts from the Revolutionary War through Desert Storm. Music bolsters the morale of the soldier and highlighting this performance will be tributes to our fighting forces through the centuries. Joining Choral Artists is Sergeant Major (ret) Bob McDonald, baritone and veteran of The US Army Chorus in Washington, DC.
