Violinist

Dynamic is more than a vocal group. With four strong jazz singers in the front and a rhythm section with something on their heart, they play with every conceivable combination of voices and instruments. The band was founded when Paul Kim moved to Denmark from San Francisco, where he had won awards and performed and worked with big names in vocal jazz. Since then, Dynamic has made a name for itself on the Danish jazz scene in a rare genre, and with a captivating repertoire of both new interpretations of beloved well-known jazz numbers and their own compositions. Several reviewers have compared them to The Manhattan Transfer, but the band has its own sound. The audience is invited into a warm and entertaining show of the highest musical quality, which radiates joy of life, love of music and with room for both seriousness and humor.

Paul Kim ’24 is a pianist and trumpeter. His recital includes Scriabin Piano Concert op. 20, third movement, along with his piano teacher, Doris Stevenson. Also on the program: Legende, with Lucy Luo ’27, piano; Poulenc Trio with Sam Bean ’26, horn; the Schoenfield Trio; a Brahms Quartet with Claire Seizovic ’13, Ames Hwang ’26, and Casey Cai ’27.

An apartment on the 19th floor. Edith has been waiting for Darren to finish his amazing-fantastic-wonderful project for a while now. The kids don’t call enough, and when they do, they seem full of accusations. All she wants — it’s not too much to ask, is it? — is to sit and have some tea with her husband, someday, when he’s done with building his masterpiece. Meanwhile, outside their apartment, the waters are rising, rising, rising…With humor, grace, and beauty, this absurdist tragic-comedy will stay with you long after it ends.
