Mikael Karlsson's song cycle So We Will Vanish , about the natural destruction in nature, is dedicated to the Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. When she now performs the work in the Berwaldhallen, it is together with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jukka-Pekka Saraste. The multi-layered work The Ring of Fire and Love by Finnish composer Outi Tarkiainen opens this concert, which concludes with Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony – inspired by his brief, unhappy marriage.

Join us for the grand opening of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra's 94th season with a spectacular performance titled "Enigma." The evening will be led by the distinguished Canadian conductor, **Tania Miller**, known for her dynamic interpretations and innovative approach to music. 

The concert will feature the long-awaited SSO debut of the acclaimed pianist **Sara Davis Buechner**, celebrated for her musical command and visionary artistry. She will perform **Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 23**, a piece renowned for its emotional depth and technical brilliance.

The program will also include **Edward Elgar’s Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 36**, commonly known as the **Enigma Variations**. This masterpiece is a series of musical portraits, each variation representing a different friend or family member of the composer, wrapped in a mysterious theme that has intrigued audiences for over a century.
