László Fenyö has been among the world's elite cellists since winning the 2004 International Pablo Casals Competition in Kronberg. Together with one of Poland's most renowned ensembles, he brings a program full of surprises to the Konzerthaus, culminating in one of the most popular cello concertos in music history.

Don Quixote has inspired innumerable works of art, including a delightful suite by the prolific Telemann and a spectacular concertante piece for cello by Finnish composer Sallinen. In this performance, cellist Johannes Moser will showcase his full virtuosity in Sallinen’s work, then also appear in C.P.E. Bach’s most famous concerto.

Cellist Gary Hoffman gained international renown as the first North American to win the Rostropovich International Cello Competition in 1986. He has appeared as a soloist with the Chicago, London, Montréal, Toronto, San Francisco, Baltimore, and National symphony orchestras; the English, Moscow, and Los Angeles chamber orchestras; Orchestre National de France; Orchestre de la Suisse Romande; the Netherlands and Rotterdam philharmonics; and the Cleveland and Philadelphia orchestras, among many others. He has collaborated with such celebrated conductors as Herbert Blomstedt, Andrew Davis, Jésus Lopez-Cobos, Kent Nagano, André Prévin, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Pinchas Zuckerman.

The Academy join American Cellist Gary Hoffman on a tour of the USA. Making his musical debut at the Wigmore Hall in London at the age of fifteen, quickly followed by New York, Gary became the youngest faculty appointee in the history of the Indiana University School of Music at the age of twenty-two. After winning the Premier Grand Prix of the Rostropovich International Competition in Paris in 1986, he embarked on an international career, appearing with the world’s most noted orchestras, in major recital and chamber music series and at prestigious festivals.
