Schubert Lounge is a contemporary reflection on Franz Schubert's Lieder and presents Schubert as a modern singer-songwriter in a new intimate and present concert format. The work was written by the Norwegian composer Eivind Buene.

At the closing concert, Schubert's Lieder, classically sung by the Norwegian baritone Halvor Melien and the Danish mezzo-soprano Andrea Pellegrini, meets the untrained composer's voice when Eivind Buene sings and accompanies himself on a Fender Rhodes electric piano.

This year's Schubertiade opens with Schubert in a completely new format, when the renowned Norwegian composer Eivind Buene and Ensemble Storstrøm invite the audience inside for a present and different concert experience.

Boston Conservatory’s contemporary performance ensemble contraBAND starts the spring semester with a world premiere by Berklee College faculty member Tamar Diesendruck, featuring Boston Conservatory faculty Philipp Staüdlin. The concert also includes works by Eivind Buene, Aida Shirazi, and Benjamin Scheuer.
