The music at this concert is "real" Viennese classics". Vienna was Europe's musical stronghold and melting pot in the latter part of the 18th century. Here, a new musical style emerged that, compared to the Italian Baroque and Rococo of the past, was less elaborate and more simple and expressive. All the music we know and practice today as "classical music" has its roots there.

Dvořák’s String Serenade enchants with lush harmonies and folk-inspired melodies, showing off the best of the OPO string section. Vanhal’s Double Bassoon Concert will highlight one of the true gems of the orchestra in a lively and rich piece. Experience the Classical Era elegance and grace of Mozart’s Violin Concerto. Coleridge-Taylor’s Four Novelletten concludes the program pulling from African-American and British traditions to create a diverse and emotional melody. This program will create an evening of music showcasing the depth of the OPO Musicians and rich repertoire.

Glière's Deux morceaux, Op. 35, Nos. 8 and 9, and Bozza's Fantaisie for bassoon and piano, with Nathan Canfield on piano, will further display the instrument's versatility and the performers' technical prowess.
