The concert features the sensuous slow movements from three of the finest concertos for piano and Richard Addinsall’s Warsaw Concerto, as well as love themes from silver screen masterpieces by Ennio Morricone, James Horner and John Williams Also included is Wagner’s musical love letter and Tchaikovsky’s passionate overture to Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. In our annual tradition of performing music from popular films and television, the CSO will perform selections from your favorite 80s movie soundtracks. This year, Yuriy Bekker and the CSO welcome a special co-host and guest artist to the concert: Jean Louisa Kelly actress, singer, and dancer on Broadway, television, and film. She is best known for roles in “Yes, Dear,” Uncle Buck and Mr. Holland’s Opus, and she recently appeared in Top Gun: Maverick. Enjoy a “totally tubular” trip down memory lane with music from “bodacious” films like Beetlejuice, Beverly Hills Cop, E.T., Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Rocky, and more!

Immerse yourself in the enchanting melodies of cinema at the "Love Letter to Hollywood, Vol 1." event, presented by the Monterey Symphony. This captivating concert series is set to take place at the picturesque Forest Theater, located at Santa Rita Street and Mountain View Ave, Carmel-by-the-Sea. Mark your calendars for two consecutive evenings of musical magic on September 5 and 6, 2023, both starting at 6:30 PM.

Under the baton of Associate Conductor Brad Hogarth, the symphony will bring to life some of Hollywood's most iconic scores. The program features a diverse range of compositions, from the rousing "The Magnificent Seven Symphonic Suite" by Elmer Bernstein to the timeless beauty of "Moon River" by Henri Mancini, and the adventurous spirit of "The Adventures of Robin Hood" by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Not to be missed are contemporary classics such as the "Black Panther Suite" by Ludwig Göransson and the heartwarming "Married Life" from Pixar's Up by Michael Giacchino.

Audience members are encouraged to dive into the spirit of Hollywood by donning costumes inspired by their favorite films. This unique touch promises to add an extra layer of excitement and engagement to the evening.

Tickets are priced at $57, with a special discounted rate of $12 for students, teachers, and active-duty military personnel, making this event accessible to all who share a love for film and music.
