An exploration of the music of concerto delle donne providing a stunning musical portrayal of love themes from a 17th-century perspective with works by Francesca Caccini, Luzzasco Luzzaschi, Claudio Monteverdi, and Barbara Strozzi. The program explores themes from sapphic poetry and heavenly admiration to haunting heartbreak and suffering in celebration of the divine feminine.

Far Beyond the Skies brings together two venerable traditions, on the one hand two extraordinary works from the German Lutheran tradition which meditate on the release of death and the joys that await, and on the other hand funeral music from the Gospel tradition and where and how these two worlds intersect.
