The California Youth Symphony is thrilled to present our highly anticipated March Festival Concert series, featuring two exceptional performances on March 9th! Join us at 1:00 PM to experience the Intermezzi Strings, led by Maestra Kati Kyme, performing works by Bach and Haydn, and the and the Virtuosi Strings featuring works by Mendelssohn and Mozart.

The CYS String Ensembles, under the direction of Kati Kyme, and the CYS Wind Ensembles, under the direction of  Wind Ensembles Director Anthony Lanzino, will feature music by Borodin, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Grieg, Mozart, Grainger, Holst, and Laughrey. CYS Percussion Director Artie Storch will also be featured as he conducts the Wind Ensemble Percussion section in a performance of The Hawks by Paul Brazauskas. Admission is free, and we welcome you to just walk right in for an exciting celebration of this holiday season!

We are delighted to kick off Barefoot’s 2023-2024 season with local legends The New Esterházy Quartet (Lisa Weiss and Kati Kyme, violins; Anthony Martin, viola; and William Skeen, violoncello) playing“Other Mozarts”: String Quartets by L Mozart & FX Mozart, Mysliveček, Bologne, Kraus, Arriaga, (and WA Mozart).

Our opening day festivities continue with a trio of Bach cantatas presented by local early music luminaries, the Cantata Collective. For this performance, they will be joined by the luminous soprano Sherezade Panthaki—a Bay Area favorite frequently featured with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale—as well as the dignified baritone Paul Max Tipton. In addition to presenting two beloved cantatas for solo voice, Mein Herz schwimmt in Blut (BWV 199) and Ich habe genug (BWV 82), the ensemble will join together for Ich geh und suche mit Verlangen (BWV 49), a sumptuously scored “dialogue cantata” between the Soul and Jesus, her bridegroom.
