​CalArts Dance presents new work by faculty and guest choreographers, performed by the students of the Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance. Highlighting an eclectic array of visions, vernaculars, and kinetic identities, Winter Dance features new dances by a cross-section of Los Angeles-based choreographers.

The L.A. season kicks off with a dynamic mixed repertory program packed with high-energy music and captivating choreography. The program features Trey McIntyre’s thrilling Blue Until June, set to the soulful sounds of Etta James, and Matthew Neenan’s A Million Voices, performed to music by the inimitable Peggy Lee. The evening concludes with Snap!, a burst of electrifying energy choreographed by L.A.’s own Micaela Taylor, set to the grooves of James Brown.

BODYTRAFFIC has conquered the contemporary dance world with its stunning performers, technical mastery, and commitment to the most challenging repertoire. In its White Bird debut, BODYTRAFFIC exudes energy, sophistication, and sheer joy in dancing. This program of mixed repertory by internationally renowned choreographers, including Alejandro Cerrudo and BODYTRAFFIC Artist in Residence Micaela Taylor, promises to be an entertaining start to our 27th season.

This concert is comprised of works by six individual artists, unified as an ensemble on stage. Two works are by internationally renowned choreographers Micaela Taylor and Michael Uthoff. Two dances explore the magic of combining diverse dance genres to present an entirely new creation: Jennifer Black melds the forms of jazz and tap together, while Catherine Meredith and Samuel McIntosh fuse modern and hip-hop dance styles in their new innovative work. Rounding out the concert are two works that focus on relationships, connections, and support choreographed respectively by Catherine Meredith and Barbara Allegra Verlezza.
