Violinist

Katie Kadarauch is an American-born, 3rd generation musician and teacher. She has toured and performed across four continents with a special passion for teaching and chamber music. For 16 seasons she has served as the Assistant Principal Viola of the San Francisco Symphony, and in 2019, she joined the Minnesota Orchestra with Osmo Vanska for two weeks as a Guest Associate Principal.

Join us in celebrating the amazing Robin Sharp’s twenty years as concertmaster of the SFCO. Robin’s incredible artistry and leadership have lifted the SFCO to new heights, and her beautiful violin playing has charmed audiences for decades. Robin will perform Max Bruch’s iconic Violin Concerto in G minor, one of the most beloved pieces in the violin repertoire. Featuring the virtuoso SFCO string players, Dance Card, by Grammy Award winner Jennifer Higdon, “is a celebration of the joy, lyricism and passion of a group of strings playing together! This work reflects the deep commitment that string players bring to their music making, not only in the many years of learning to play their instruments, but also in the dedication manifested in gorgeous music-making as an ensemble.” Our program opens with Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, the tragic and triumphant story of a hero’s fight against tyranny and oppression. The dramatic score has captured the imagination of listeners for centuries, becoming a symbol of the struggle for liberty and freedom.

Our esteemed concertmaster, Robin Sharp, leads an ensemble of San Francisco Chamber Orchestra All-Stars in a program of string quartet masterpieces. Joined by Natasha Makhhijani (violin), Ben Simon, (viola), and Eric Gaenslen (cello) this kickoff concert to our 2022-23 Classical at the Freight season will be amazing chamber music performed with poise and polish by our A-team of SFCO players.

Join the SFCO and two acclaimed choirs, San Francisco’s stellar Volti and the amazing young singers of the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir for the world premiere of Michael Gilbertson’s final commission as our BMI Composer-in-Residence.  Denial, set to both ancient and contemporary texts, is a powerful meditation on climate change and our current political deadlock.
