Almost 40 years ago, Jon Gordon entered a New York club called 7th Avenue South and heard the Art Taylor Quartet. “It was the first live jazz I’d heard in my life,” says the acclaimed saxophonist, composer, and educator. Named for that club, and all the incredible music he’s heard around that neighborhood through the years, Gordon’s May release celebrates his early experiences as a listener and a burgeoning artist. Expect an evening of new music, reimagined originals, and compositions from some of Gordon’s favorite artists – delivered by his virtuosic large ensemble.

You may know David Cook from his meteoric rise to stardom following his American Idol Season Seven win, or from his massive records filled with chart-topping hit singles. Cook is well aware, and grateful, for the breaks American Idol has brought his way, and for the opportunities he continues to have. And he has no plans to slow it down.

“I was a ‘rock’ guy, but the further away I’ve gotten from that, the more I’ve opened up and found inspiration in the peripherals,” Cook said. “I wouldn’t have had the courage earlier in my career, but now I have the confidence to go after the sound I want.”

David Cook launched into stardom following his American Idol Season Seven win. He broke several Billboard chart records when fourteen of his songs debuted on the Hot Digital Songs chart, and eleven of his songs debuted on the Hot 100. His first album, 2006’s Analog Heart, came out pre-Idol, and his last album, 2015’s Digital Vein, nicely book-ended that chapter of Cook’s career. He sold more than 2 million albums (including his platinum-certified eponymous album) and, collectively, more than 5 million tracks (including two platinum-certified singles) worldwide.
