The program promises a rich tapestry of compositions, including Jacques de la Presle's "Le jardin mouillé," selections from Carlos Salzedo's "Suite of Eight Dances," Adolphus Hailstork's "Four Preludes," Philippe Gaubert's "Légende," and Maurice Ravel's "Introduction et Allegro." Join us for an enchanting evening of flute and piccolo music performed by Haylie Wu, a talented Bachelor of Music student at the Northwestern Bienen School of Music. This recital, part of her studies under the guidance of esteemed instructors John Thorne, Alyce Johnson, and Jennifer Gunn, promises to be a showcase of musical brilliance and technical skill. Accompanied by Kay Kim on piano, Haylie will navigate through a repertoire that includes J.S. Bach's Flute Sonata in E Minor, BWV 1034, Philippe Gaubert's Fantaisie for Flute and Piano, Henri Dutilleux's Sonatine for flute and piano, W.A. Mozart's Flute Concerto No. 1 in G Major, K. 313, and a captivating arrangement of Niccolò Paganini's Caprice No. 24 in A Minor by Jasmine Choi.

This recital is scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2024, at 6:00pm CDT, in the Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall. Located in the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, the Galvin Recital Hall is renowned for its stunning acoustics and breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline, providing the perfect backdrop for an evening of exquisite music.
