Australian guitar duo Ziggy and Miles (“Transfixingly beautiful,” Limelight) joins Artistic Directors Julia Bruskin and Aaron Wunsch for a program of duets that explore the nature of musical dialogue and intrapersonal exchange. Brothers Ziggy and Miles are the Festival’s 2025 Emerging Artist in Residence and will astonish you with their uncanny communication and unique sensitivity in a program of music by Bach, Brahms, Debussy, and tango master Astór Piazzolla.

Praised by Classical Guitar Magazine as “having the potential to serve as inspiration for new generations of guitarists to come,” the Beijing Guitar Duo launched their international concert career with a New York debut in Carnegie Hall in 2010.  Beyond their virtuosic techniques, both artists’ approach is one that embodies pure chamber music at its finest: collaboration, organic in-the-moment response, and relinquishing the soloist’s spotlight in service to the ensemble.

Join us for an enchanting evening with the acclaimed guitar duo, Ziggy & Miles, as they make their debut at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. This special concert, generously sponsored by Jessine Monaghan, will feature a captivating program that includes:

- **Astor Piazzolla:** Tango Suite and Suite Troileana (with special guest Anthony Trionfo on flute)
- **Claude Debussy (arr. Ziggy & Miles):** Suite bergamasque

- **Radamés Gnattali:** Suite Retratos

Ziggy & Miles will present a selection of works that have inspired them from Latin America and their home country, Australia. This performance promises to be a memorable showcase of some of the most defining works for guitar duo, including their unique arrangement of Debussy’s Suite bergamasque.

The Washington Arts Ensemble is thrilled to announce its debut performance at the historic Atlas Performing Arts Center. This highly anticipated event will showcase a dynamic collaboration between two exceptional international soloists: cellist Gabriel Cabezas and classical guitarist Jordan Dodson. The duo will perform the D.C. premiere of a stunningly beautiful new collection of works written for them by NYC-based contemporary classical composer Elliot Cole, alongside Spanish and Brazilian classics arranged for this unique ensemble.

“Australian guitarist brothers making history” (The Age), Ziggy and Miles are two of their home country’s finest young musicians forging an international career. Their performances are known for their “deeply considered musicianship, immaculate care and superlative technique” (5MBS). Winners of the 2023 YCA (Young Concert Artists) Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, the brothers have become the first guitar duo and second guitarists to receive this prestigious award in the organization’s 65-year history. They served as the 2024/25Musicians-in-Residence at Dumbarton Oaks under Harvard University. Graduates of The Juilliard School, Ziggy and Miles were the first Australians and first guitar duo accepted into the school’s prestigious Artist Diploma program, where they also received the Norman Benzaquen Career Advancement Grant. During both their master’s and Artist Diploma at Juilliard, they studied under Multiple Grammy Winner, Sharon Isbin, who has shaped and inspired their artistic identities.
