Join us for a unique musical journey at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, as we present "Close Encounters With Music: Celtic Baroque Band Makaris - A Bach Family Concert with an Irish Twist." **About the Event:**

Dive into the world of J.S. Bach and his family as they explore the realms of Spanish sarabandes, French bourrées, and British gigues, alongside arrangements of Celtic and Scottish folk music. The evening will also feature works by Beethoven and Haydn, who ventured into Irish folk music with their unique arrangements. 

Makaris, a group formed in 2018, aims to explore the rich musical heritage of Scotland. Following their critically acclaimed release, "Wisps in the Dell," in 2019, they continue to captivate audiences with their exceptional performances. The term "makar" refers to a royal court troubadour of medieval Scotland, and the ensemble's program promises a lush sampling from their collection, transporting you back in time.
