This one-to-a-part cantata series features the Festival soloists as the vocal consort. The Trauerode, BWV 198, is a masterpiece that features funeral music that provided the backbone for the St. Mark Passion. The Lamentations of Jeremiah by Zelenka are beautifully conceived, gorgeous melodies imbued with mysticism.

Anchored around six arrangements from Esprit Philippe Chedeville's collection of Christmas folk melodies in 1730s Paris, Nouveau recueil de Noëls, the Chivalrous Crickets lead audiences on a rambling, wassail-filled journey through villages of France, Ireland, England, Scotland, and America while exploring the tunes and traditions of Celtic Yuletide from the quiet first day of Winter to the raucous Twelfth Night.

Corelli's Opus 5 Violin Sonatas remain a Baroque violinist's dream to explore and perform. Alana Youssefian, joined by Jeff Grossman and Sarah Stone, returns in recital to perform a selection of these glorious works, including the famously devilish Folia. This unabashedly all-Corelli program promises to take the listener on a florid journey through one of the Italian Baroque's most treasured collections.

The Sebastians perform Bach’s “little” Mass in G major, BWV 236, in a performance with forces matching Bach’s own proportions—oboes, bassoon, strings, and continuo, plus a stunning vocal quartet who perform as soloists and chorus: Clara Rottsolk, Wee Kiat Chia, James Reese, and Tyler Duncan. Between the movements of the mass, we will include works by Bach’s contemporaries, also simulating the way the movements of the mass would have been separated by parts of the church service.

That’s right, we’re taking a break from our namesake... for one concert! Join us for this exhilarating finale showcasing the brilliance of the concerto grosso. Before there were Brandenburgs, Corelli and Vivaldi dazzled audiences with the vibrant energy and intricate interplay of these masterworks, brought to life here by over a dozen baroque specialists.
