Shostakovich goes to town, as we perform his magnificent Piano Quintet.
If you enjoy Shostakovich’s symphonies, you’re going to love his Piano Quintet. Big, bold and written with the same emotional force as the Fifth Symphony, it’s an unforgettable introduction to his chamber music, and a perfect upbeat to next week’s performance of the War Requiem by his great friend Britten. A haunting Czech miniature sets the mood.
