Arvo Pärt's music is in many ways a rebellion against post-war classical music, which, roughly speaking, meant louder, faster, bigger and more of everything. Pärt's music is anything but – it is gentle, slow and insists on repetition and silence. The early music movement, of which Concerto Copenhagen is a leading part, was also created as a rebellion against the classical music scene in post-war Europe and - in many ways like Pärt - seeks originality in the simple and transparent, a humility towards the musical raw material and the shortest possible path from the musician's expression to the audience's impression.

Join us for an enchanting evening of Baroque music with the acclaimed conductor Emmanuelle Haïm and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. The evening's program will feature a selection of Baroque masterpieces, including extracts from Henry Purcell's "The Fairy-Queen," a semi-opera based on Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." The concert will also showcase Georg Friedrich Händel's "Royal Fireworks Music, HWV 351," followed by an interval, and conclude with Händel's "Il delirio amoroso, Cantata for Soprano and Orchestra, HWV 99." The talented Dutch soprano Lenneke Ruiten will join Emmanuelle Haïm, bringing her exquisite voice to the performance of Händel's intimate cantata.

Emmanuelle Haïm, a Paris-born conductor and harpsichordist, is celebrated for her passionate and captivating interpretations of Baroque music. Her return to the podium with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks marks her eagerly awaited second appearance since 2017, promising an evening of musical brilliance and emotional depth.

Join us for an enchanting evening of brass music as the BRSO Academy and the Hermann-Levi-Akademie des Staatsorchesters present "Polished Brass - orchestra academies invite." This special concert will take place on Tuesday, 25th April 2023, at 7:00 pm in the vibrant setting of Munich's Werksviertel-Mitte, Technikum.

The evening's program promises a diverse range of compositions, starting with the majestic "Solomon: Entry of the Queen of Sheba HW 67 Act III Sinfonia" by Georg Friedrich Händel, followed by spirited "Dances from Terpsichore" arranged by NoPhilBrass from Michael Praetorius. The audience will be treated to Maurice Ravel's "Alborada del gracioso" and Johann Sebastian Bach's "Concert for Organ d-Minor BWV 596 after A. Vivaldi's L'Estro armonico op. 3 No. 11." Pietro Mascagni's "Cavalleria rusticana. Intermezzo" and Daniel Schnyder's "3 American Dances" will add to the evening's eclectic mix. The program will also feature contemporary pieces including Michael Clothier's "Rumba Fortinbrass" and a selection of songs from classic films and musicals, culminating in Goff Richards' "Homage to the noble grape."
