Under the direction of Founding Artistic Director Terrance Kelly, the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir presents a captivating musical revue in celebration of Black History Month. From heartfelt Negro spirituals performed with an authenticity not often found outside of the South, to energetic and upbeat contemporary gospel, the show also offers historical context for each piece throughout and is sure to uplift and inspire an audience of all ages.

The Colors of Christmas follows up on its smashing return last season with a program featuring legendary artists including Peabo Bryson, Oleta Adams, and Ruben Studdard in a spectacular program of Christmas classics and greatest hits with the San Francisco Symphony.

The Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir weaves together a family of singers from a wide range of faiths, races, and cultures-- joined in the mission to inspire joy and unity in all people through Negro spirituals and black gospel music. The choir and its dynamic director, Terrance Kelly, have captivated audiences across the world, from Israel to Norway to Australia to the Deep South. Before each show, choir members call out their wishes to send joy, love, and hope to everyone in attendance. And when the choir starts singing, audiences can’t help but jump to their feet, lift their hands, and allow the glory of the music to uplift them.
The award-winning Choir’s exquisite harmonies and stirring gospel repertoire have led to performances with a wide variety of esteemed groups, such as Joshua Nelson, the Prince of Kosher Gospel; the Five Blind Boys of Alabama; and the Duke Ellington Orchestra. The Choir also appears on Grammy-winning albums by Linda Ronstadt, MC Hammer, Tramaine Hawkins, and others.

A historic night is in the making as this farewell concert for Artistic Director Dr. Timothy Seelig is also our first concert with the iconic San Francisco Symphony. Audiences will revel in the deeply personal playlist curated by Tim, highlighting the past 10 years of his creative leadership. The acclaimed Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir will perform alongside SFGMC with additional special guests to be announced soon.

Final Words

We are thrilled to announce a sure-to-be legendary event, Final Words. For the first time ever, more than 250 members of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) will perform with the San Francisco Symphony. This one-night only concert is Dr. Timothy Seelig’s final performance as SFGMC’s Artistic Director and a salute to his storied musical career. The evening will feature hand-picked selections by Seelig that have entertained, inspired, and moved countless audiences during his tenure, as well as a special guest performance with the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir.

 Final Words: SF Gay Men’s Chorus & SF Symphony

The legendary San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus joins forces with the SF Symphony in the celebratory finale performance of SFGMC’s 2021–22 season, and a commemoration of Dr. Timothy Seelig’s final season as Artistic Director. Don’t miss this one-night-only concert of inspiring choral favorites.
