In 2018, Eva's Heroes asked Alamo City Arts and Alamo City Dance Company to create a sensory friendly Nutcracker that featured the incredible individuals that participate in their amazing organization.  Now in our 2024 production we look forward to adding more magic with Eva's Heroes!

This abridged version of the classic tale tells the story of Clara and her sister receiving a Nutcracker on Christmas Eve!  They take a magical journey through a snowy forest in to the Land of Sweets and meet many new friends along the way!   Music volume and lighting are adapted to accommodate everyone! One of the most touching fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm is forever associated with the Christmas season thanks to the musical setting by Engelbert Humperdinck: »Hansel and Gretel«. The fairy tale opera premiered shortly before Christmas in 1893 at the Weimar Court Theatre under Richard Strauss. Several fairy tales inspired Maurice Ravel to compose, which he brought together in his ballet music »Ma mère l'oye«. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, in turn, used ETA Hoffmann's story of the »Mouse King and the Nutcracker« as the basis for his ballet »The Nutcracker«. Experience concert poet Timo Brunke with specially written "Nutcracker Poetry" for the whole family.

Stanford Live, in collaboration with the San Francisco Ballet, proudly presents "Starry Nights," an enchanting evening of ballet under the stars. This spectacular event is scheduled for Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27, with performances beginning at 7:30 PM at the Frost Amphitheater.

"Starry Nights" promises to be a memorable experience, featuring a full evening of repertory that spans from classical to contemporary, showcasing the dynamic range and impressive talent of the SF Ballet’s dancers. The program highlights include Act II of Helgi Tomasson’s deeply moving "Swan Lake," a quintessential classical ballet known for its visually stunning corps de ballet of swans and the tender White Swan pas de deux. Additionally, audiences will be treated to the SF Ballet premiere of Ben Stevenson’s "Three Preludes," set to Sergei Rachmaninoff's piano compositions, a work that blends technical prowess with emotional depth. The evening will close with a tribute to Dutch choreographer Hans van Manen with "Variations for Two Couples," "Solo," and "5 Tango’s," set to a score by Astor Piazzolla, showcasing van Manen’s hallmark inventive style.

To make the evening extra special, VIP tables are available, offering food and beverage service (purchased separately), priority entry, and a special VIP-only menu of snacks, bites, and premium beverages. Gates open at 6:30 PM, allowing guests to settle in before the performance starts. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, ensuring a complete and enjoyable evening out.
