Set in an enchanted world, the story follows Prince Tamino on his daring quest to rescue Pamina, the daughter of the Queen of the Night, who is held captive by Sarastro, the Priest of the Sun. Accompanied by Papageno, a bird-catcher in search of love, their journey unfolds into a discovery that challenges their perceptions of good and evil, day and night. This production promises to immerse audiences in the timeless tale and the beauty of Mozart’s music, featuring the full orchestra and chorus of Opera North, albeit in a condensed format.

"The Magic Flute Lite" will be performed in English, with English subtitles, ensuring accessibility for all. The opera is set to tour various prestigious venues, including Leeds Grand Theatre, Newcastle Theatre Royal, The Lowry in Salford Quays, and Theatre Royal in Nottingham, from 20 February to 20 March 2025. Each performance will last approximately 90 minutes, including one interval.

Ticket prices start from £16, with various discounts available, including season ticket packages, under 30s memberships, and special rates for those new to opera. Booking fees may apply and prices vary by venue. In the quaint suburban community of Stillwater, a mysterious shack springs up from the dust with the inhabitants nowhere to be seen. 

As speculation abounds, new residents Sihle and Bonolo are recruited by their neighbourhood to be the face of a campaign to demolish the shack in this biting satire of community politics.  

A Good House is a thrilling and comedic new work, from writer Amy Jephta, about a couple who discover the limits of good neighbourliness and what is required to fit in.

She leaves to be a governess to seven motherless children, while contemplating whether to commit to life as a nun. Maria transforms the von Trapp family home from a place of strict rules to one filled with joy, laughter, and music. In the process, she falls in love with the children, capturing their hearts and finding herself drawn to their widower father, Captain von Trapp.
