This landmark event marks a significant milestone in the orchestra's history, celebrating 75 years of musical excellence and community engagement. The evening promises an unforgettable concert experience, featuring a unique collaboration with esteemed partners including the Jackson School of the Arts, Jackson Youth Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Chelsea, and Jackson Chorale.

The concert will showcase a collage of captivating music, nostalgic videos, and reflections on the orchestra's impactful history. Under the baton of special guests Stephen Osmond, Richard Sherman, Ralph Votapek, and Mitsuru Kubo, the program will span classics to contemporary pieces, highlighting the diversity and spirit of collaboration that defines the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.

The program schedule includes masterpieces such as Johann Strauss, Jr.'s "Fledermaus: Overture," César Franck's "Symphonic Variations," Edward Elgar's "Nimrod from Enigma Variations," and Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Finale: Allegro con fuoco from Symphony No.4," among others. The concert will have a runtime of approximately 2 hours.

Before the concert, attendees are invited to a free, interactive lecture at 6:30 PM, offering insights into the evening's program and the opportunity to engage with the music on a deeper level.

Following the concert, the celebration continues with an afterparty sponsored by Rehmann. This event offers a great opportunity to mingle with musicians, guest artists, composers, and fellow symphony fans. The afterparty will feature entry, hors d’oeuvres, and drinks, all included in the $20 ticket price.

Experience an evening where jazz meets classical in a unique musical fusion. The Nashville Symphony, under the baton of conductor David Danzmayr, presents a captivating program that begins with Osvaldo Golijov’s "Sidereus," a piece inspired by Galileo’s celestial observations. The concert then features the multi-faceted pianist Aaron Diehl and his trio, performing Mary Lou Williams’ "Zodiac Suite." This suite, composed of 12 pieces, draws inspiration from astrological signs and the musicians born under them, offering a rare blend of jazz and classical elements.

The program continues with Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, famously known as the "Unfinished Symphony." This work, one of Schubert’s most celebrated compositions, remains a cornerstone of the classical repertoire despite its incomplete status. The evening concludes on a lighter note with Johann Strauss, Jr.’s "Emperor Waltzes," a delightful piece that encapsulates the elegance and charm of the Viennese waltz tradition.

Before the concert, attendees can enrich their experience by participating in "Classical Conversations," a discussion held in the Balcony Lobby that delves into the evening’s program. This event promises a rich tapestry of musical exploration, blending the innovative spirit of jazz with the timeless beauty of classical music.

Join us for an enchanting afternoon of chamber music at the "String Spring Fling," presented by the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra (THSO). This special event will take place on Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Hatfield Hall, located within the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at 5500 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, IN, 47803.

Under the artistic direction of Dr. David Bowden, the THSO Strings and Principal Harp, Melanie Mashner, will deliver a performance filled with lush string sounds and the warm beauty of harp vibrations. The concert will feature the return of Elina Rubio, our recent concertmaster, who will dazzle the audience with a solo performance of Ravel’s Tzigane Gypsy Dance. Additionally, Elina will join forces with our current concertmaster, Erina Buchholz, for a memorable rendition of the second movement of Bach’s Double Concerto.

The program also includes a variety of pieces that promise to captivate and delight, from waltzes and a Strauss polka played pizzicato to a mesmerizing new work by Caroline Shaw, Entr’acte for Strings, and the stunning Fratres by Arvo Pärt. The concert will conclude with a selection of pieces including a jig by Grainger, a Hoe-Down by Copland, and a beautiful harp concert aria featuring Melanie Mashner.

This 75 to 80-minute performance will be held without intermission, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the music. Following the concert, a VIP reception will offer the chance to meet and mingle with the musicians.
