Curated by Joshua Thompson, "Black Keys" is an immersive experience that weaves together the power of dance, vocal prowess, and world-class artistry. The concert showcases masterpieces by Black composers and artists spanning over three centuries, including William Grant Still, Joseph Bologne, Nina Simone, Duke Ellington, Harry Burleigh, and Margaret Bonds. This event is a celebration of the contributions of Black artists to the classical music genre, presented with the support of Frost Brown Todd.

Join us for an unforgettable musical journey with the "Lift Every Voice Artist in Residence Recital," featuring the talented baritone, Dorian McCall. As he enters his third year as an Artist in Residence in the Cedar Rapids Community Schools, Dorian brings his rich experience from recent performances, including Teatro Nuovo’s production of "Crispino e la Comare" at Jazz at Lincoln Center. This special recital will showcase a diverse repertoire of arias and songs spanning from the Baroque era to the 21st century.

Accompanied by the fabulous Kim Wonkyung, Dorian McCall will enchant the audience with selections that include powerful pieces from Handel's "Messiah," the soul-stirring "Lord, I Just Can't Keep From Cryin'" by Bonds, the picturesque "He met her in the meadow" by Burleigh, the festive "White Christmas" by Irving Berlin, the profound "I'm Here" from "The Color Purple" by Russell, Willis, and Bray, and the majestic "Te Deum" from Puccini's "Tosca."
