The afternoon will showcase the talents of Dr. Keith Northover on modern and Baroque clarinet, Erina Buchholz as Concertmaster, Kevin Flynn on Principal Cello, and Esteban Hernández Parra on Principal Viola. Together, they will perform a selection of works that highlight the evolution of orchestral instruments, particularly focusing on the clarinet and strings.

The program includes a fascinating mix of pieces performed on both period and modern instruments. Attendees will be treated to Ludwig van Beethoven’s Duo No. 3 from Three Duos for Clarinet and Bassoon, WoO 27 on period instruments, showcasing the sounds before 1792. This will be followed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Aria con variazioni from Divertimento for String Trio in E-flat Major K. 563 and Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Quartet for Clarinet, Violin, Viola, and Cello in E-flat Major, both performed on modern instruments, offering a glimpse into the musical innovations of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
