This commemorative concert marks the 30th anniversary of the tragic Oklahoma City Bombing, a day that remains etched in the hearts of Oklahomans and the nation. The evening promises to be an emotional tribute, featuring the world premiere of a requiem by Clint Williams, our Composer in Residence. This piece has been composed specifically for this occasion, capturing the essence of remembrance and resilience.

Additionally, the concert will showcase the Oklahoma Premiere Performance of "Reflections on a Memorial" by DFW-based composer Quinn Mason. This piece holds particular significance as it reflects on the memorial itself, with our venue being directly next to the OKC Bombing Memorial, a site that was impacted by the tragic event.

The program also includes Dvořák’s "A Hero’s Song," op. 111, a piece that narrates the story of the Oklahoma Standard—a testament to the spirit of a community rising to support and uplift each other in the face of adversity. The evening will conclude with Richard Rogers' iconic "Oklahoma," a nod to the enduring spirit of our state.

The Tetzlaff Quartet, featuring the renowned violinist Christian Tetzlaff, is celebrated for its dynamic and nuanced performances that span a wide range of musical eras, from classical to contemporary. Formed in 1994 by Christian and Tanja Tetzlaff, along with Hanna Weinmeister and Elisabeth Kufferath, the ensemble has become one of the most sought-after quartets of its generation. Their performances are characterized by what The New York Times describes as "supremely lyrical, exactingly detailed playing combined with impeccable balance and unanimity," resulting in truly overwhelming musical experiences.

The quartet's repertoire for this performance includes Mendelssohn's String Quartet in A Minor, Op. 13, Widmann's String Quartet No. 2, and Dvořák's String Quartet in A Flat Major, Op. 105. Each piece showcases the ensemble's ability to navigate complex musical landscapes with precision and emotional depth. The Tetzlaff Quartet's commitment to excellence is further evidenced by their extensive international tours and performances at prestigious venues such as the Cité de la Musique in Paris, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Their recordings have also garnered critical acclaim, including a Diapason d’Or award.

Christian Tetzlaff, equally adept in classical, romantic, and 20th-century repertoires, plays a violin by Peter Greiner. Elisabeth Kufferath, also on violin, is a professor at the University of Music and Drama in Hannover and is known for her dedication to contemporary music. Hanna Weinmeister, the quartet's violist, serves as the First Concertmaster of the Zurich Opera Orchestra. Cellist Tanja Tetzlaff performs internationally and plays a violoncello by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini from 1776. Together, they form a quartet that is not only technically proficient but also deeply expressive, making each performance a memorable event.
