Join us for an evening of musical storytelling and exceptional talent at the "Concert: Hope for Acceptance and Peace," presented by The Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra Association. This captivating event took place on September 30, 2023, at 7:00 pm, in the Dr. Kay Green Auditorium for the Performing Arts located at the Lincoln Cultural Center, 240 Warren Avenue, Kankakee, Illinois.

The concert featured a stirring lineup, beginning with Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, a powerful piece that musically narrates the Flemish people's uprising and their triumphant overthrow of the Spanish in the 1600s. The evening continued with Peter Tchaikovsky’s monumental Symphony No. 5, a work renowned for its emotional depth and one of the most exhilarating symphonies ever composed.

A highlight of the evening was the Concerto for Harp and Orchestra by Gliere, showcasing the award-winning harpist, Miriam Kessler. Currently a student at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Kessler's performance offered a rare opportunity to experience the enchanting sounds of the harp, leaving the audience mesmerized.

This event not only celebrated the universal themes of acceptance and peace through the powerful language of music but also provided a platform for emerging talent like Miriam Kessler to shine.
