In this chamber music series, we meet our Philharmonic musicians in a more intimate format. It’s a space where members of the orchestra come together to perform their own favourite programmes – shaped by curiosity and filled with musical discoveries from both past and present.

Elegance and an Awkward Waltz

“One day a carrot freshly observed will start a revolution,” says the painter Cézanne in a novel by Émile Zola. This quote inspired American composer Gabriella Smith to write her Carrot Revolution – “a tribute to the ability to find new ways of approaching older artistic forms and expressions, such as the string quartet, a 250-year-old genre.”

The Dahlkvist Quartet

The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual Gärdet concert by the Maritime Museum is an indispensable tradition for Stockholmers. It’s a chance to pack a picnic basket or buy food on-site and enjoy sublime music and perhpaps a sing-along on the green grass.

The open-air Gärdet Concert

Fynsk foraar is Carl Nielsen’s last big choral work, and is also regarded as his most Danish one, with its poetic lyrics about when spring comes to the island Fyn. Furthermore, Tor Aulin’s third violin concerto from 1895 , Bo Lind’s orchestral A Merry ouverture and Pezzo Concertante for bass clarinett and strings, and Otto Olsson’s hymn Psalmus CX. Conductor Gudrun Dahlqvist leads the he Swedish Radio Symphony Orhestra, the Swedish Radio Choir and soloists.
