One of the music’s youngest practitioners, pianist and composer Brandon Goldberg has achieved notoriety from JazzIz, DownBeat, and London Jazz News, as well as ASCAP when he became the youngest recipient of the Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award in 2022. His Dizzy’s Club set delivers swinging repertoire — beloved standards and original tunes — alongside two of the music’s most artful improvisers, Ben Wolfe on bass and Aaron Kimmel on drums.

A classically-trained pianist and composer, Mr. Diehl has made an indelible mark on the jazz world over the last 15 years. He has collaborated with living masters ranging from jazz greats Wynton Marsalis and Benny Golson to 20th-century classical titan Philip Glass. A graduate of The Juilliard School, Mr. Diehl was named the 2011 Cole Porter Fellow by the American Pianists Association. In 2014 he became the youngest ever Monterey Jazz Festival Commission Artist, and he has released two critically acclaimed albums on the Mack Avenue Records label. Mr. Diehl appeared at the 2016 Gilmore Festival.

With Mirrors, the pianist and his partners explore the affinities of the counterpoint in Bach’s music with bebop vocabulary, interspersing solo selections from The Well-Tempered Clavier with Diehl’s own music—along with works by jazz greats like Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Toots Thielemans, Bud Powell, and Chick Corea—in corresponding keys.

Vivid, dazzling pictures of Rome painted by a master symphonist. Respighi’s symphonic poems evoke the sights and sounds of the Eternal City, from its centuries-old trees that dominate the landscape, to its extraordinary fountains. The concert opens with a masterpiece by Mary Lou Williams highlighting each of the twelve astrological signs, performed by Ohio native and star jazz/classical pianist Aaron Diehl.
