Former Principal Flutist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Michael Parloff has established a reputation as one of the finest classical music lecturers of our time. He returns to Music@Menlo to lead the season’s first Encounter, tracing Haydn’s beginnings through his unique professional circumstances, his relationships, artistic triumphs, and finally, his posthumous legacy. This deep dive into Haydn’s life and times provides an essential framework for the 2022 festival.

This Encounter lecture is preceded by a free afternoon Prelude Performance at 5 p.m. by the 2022 International Program artists. Prelude programs will be announced in May.
