Attendees will also enjoy performances by special guest instrumentalists, the string players from Central Bucks elementary schools, all under the skilled direction of Donna Hartzell.

The concert program, titled "BATS, BEATS, and BEASTS," includes a variety of pieces such as Johann Strauss Jr.'s "Overture to Die Fledermaus," Pablo de Sarasate's "Zigeunerweisen, Op. 20," with Mio Imai on violin, and John Williams' iconic "Theme from Jurassic Park." The program will also feature performances by the string ensembles of Butler, Jamison, and Mill Creek Elementary Schools.

Experience the enchantment of live music and breathtaking circus acts with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra's (NSO) "Masterworks 1: Under the Big Top." This spectacular event, presented by The City of St. John's, took place at the Arts and Culture Centre on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 8:00 PM. 

The evening began with the talented Sacha Jorba Wu, the winner of the CMC Music competition, setting the stage for a night of awe-inspiring performances. Under the direction of Marc David, the NSO collaborated with the St. John’s International CircusFest to curate a magical evening that combined the thrill of the circus with the majesty of orchestral music. Audiences were treated to a unique blend of entertainment, featuring circus acts from Carole Demers and CircusFest, perfectly accompanied by the NSO's renditions of classical masterpieces.

The concert's repertoire included L. van Beethoven’s "Leonore 3 Overture," C. Saint-Saëns' "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso," and P. Sarasate's "Zigeunerwisen," providing a rich musical experience that complemented the circus performances. This event was not only a celebration of music and circus arts but also a testament to the NSO's commitment to bringing innovative and engaging experiences to the community.
