Since its inception in 2011, Art of the Piano has grown immensely over the years, in a variety of ways.  We started out in Cincinnati with a handful of applicants, which—to our delight—eventually blossomed to over 200 young pianists hoping to attend each year.

Join us for an enchanting evening of vocal music as Claire O’Shaughnessy, a talented soprano from the Northwestern Bienen School of Music, presents her recital. This special performance is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 6:00pm CDT, taking place in the intimate setting of the McClintock Choral and Recital Room. Claire, a Bachelor of Music student under the guidance of Pamela Hinchman, will be accompanied by Jason Carlson on piano.

The evening’s program promises a diverse selection of works, featuring Joaquín Rodrigo's "Cuatro madrigales amatorios," Léo Delibes' "Les filles de Cadix," a collection of Traditional Irish Folk Songs arranged by Benjamin Britten, selected Lieder by Richard Strauss, Claude Debussy's "Quatre chansons de jeunesse," and Luigi Arditi's "Il bacio." This recital offers a splendid showcase of Claire’s vocal versatility and expressive depth.

Admission to this event is free, and tickets are not required, making it a perfect opportunity for music lovers and supporters of emerging talent to experience the artistry of a rising star within the beautiful acoustics of the McClintock Choral and Recital Room. The venue is located at 70 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston, IL 60208, within the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Center for the Musical Arts.
