The professional touring company Heritage Opera returns to Blackfriars Arts Centre with Donizetti's comic masterpiece "The Elixir of Love", fully staged and sung in English, and accompanied by English Pro Musica. This wonderful opera is jam-packed with memorable tunes, including the famous tenor aria "Una furtiva lagrima".

The Opéra de Québec proudly presents its Season 22-23 lineup, featuring a selection of operatic masterpieces that promise to captivate audiences with their emotional depth, stunning performances, and exquisite production values. Among the highlights of this season are two standout productions: Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" and Puccini's "Madama Butterfly," both of which are performed by a talented cast accompanied by the Orchestre symphonique de Québec and the Choir of the Opéra de Québec.

"Don Pasquale," performed on October 22, 25, 27, and 29, 2022, stars Olivier Déjean in the title role, with Anne-Catherine Gillet as Norina, Hugo Laporte as Malatesta, Patrick Kabongo as Ernesto, and Michel Desbiens as Le Notaire. The production is under the musical direction of Laurent Campellone, with staging by Jean-Sébastien Ouellet. The team also includes Michel Baker (Scenery), Julie Morel (Costumes), Kevin Dubois (Video), Nico Desmeules (Lights), and Élène Pearson (Makeup), ensuring a visually stunning and musically rich experience.

"Puccini's Madama Butterfly," performed on May 13, 16, 18, and 20, 2023, tells the tragic tale of Cio-Cio-San, a young geisha who falls in love with Pinkerton, a US navy officer. The cast features MyungJoo Lee and Francesca Tiburzi sharing the role of Cio-Cio-San, with Eric Laporte as Pinkerton, Lysianne Tremblay as Suzuki, and Philipp Addis as Sharpless. The production is led by musical director Clelia Cafiero and director François Racine, with contributions from Michel Baker (Scenes), Émily Wahlman (Costumes), Jeanne Huguenin (Accessories), Serge Gingras (Lights), Élène Pearson (Makeup), and Josée Brisson (Hairstyles).

Both operas are presented in their original Italian versions with French surtitles, allowing audiences to fully immerse themselves in the emotional and musical journey of the performances. These productions not only showcase the talents of an exceptional cast and creative team but also highlight the Opéra de Québec's commitment to bringing high-quality opera to audiences in Québec City.
