The THSO is thrilled to present Symphony Sundays, a free chamber music concert series, at Westminster Village in the J.W. Davis Community Center. Performances are 45-60 minutes in length and are open to the public. Join us each month for an afternoon of wonderful music performed by our THSO musicians!

Dress up or dress down for this annual celebration of Ludwig van Beethoven, under the baton of guest conductor Laura Jackson. This rousing program features the composer’s Fifth Symphony along with Gioachino Rossini’s Overture to Barber of Seville and Jimmy López Bellido’s Fiesta! Four Pop Dances for Orchestra. Ray Ushikubo joins the orchestra as soloist on piano for Felix Mendelssohn’s First Piano Concerto and violin for Camille Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.

The BPO presents Carnival of the Animals, a delightful and imaginative concert experience for children and families. Under the baton of Fernanda Lastra, this musical journey introduces listeners to a parade of animals, from the majestic lion to the graceful swan, each represented by different orchestral instruments. The concert offers a playful yet educational look at the orchestra, encouraging children to associate musical sounds and themes with the characteristics of various animals. It’s a perfect way to combine learning with entertainment, providing a creative introduction to classical music and the instruments that bring it to life. April’s concert is filled with inspiring and youthful energy featuring Camille Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals! This piece depicts various animals in their natural habitats through the different colors and timbres of the orchestra. Following that, we’ll dive deeper into the sounds of the orchestra with a piece by Modesto’s own and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, Andrew Norman. The program will end with Copland’s Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo with the young musicians of the Modesto Symphony Youth Orchestra playing side-by-side on Hoedown.
