**Naishi Wang: Face to Face Performance**

Join us for an evocative evening of dance with Naishi Wang's latest creation, "Face to Face," on December 15 & 16 at the Tim Ryan Black Box Theatre, MacEwan University in Allard Hall. This performance, a part of the Brian Webb Dance Company's 2023-2024 season, promises to be a profound exploration of communication beyond words.

"Face to Face" is inspired by the myriad ways our bodies express themselves, drawing from body language, emojis, and the basics of speech to craft a narrative that delves into the complexities of human interaction. Choreographed and performed by Toronto-based Naishi Wang, originally from China, alongside collaborator Lukas Malkowski, this duet navigates the nuances of non-verbal communication through a series of gestures and movements that are both simple and intensely powerful.

Elsa Pepin of FTA - Festival TransAmériques describes the piece as a "gentle yet profoundly intense duet" that uses the body as a key to unlock a multitude of expressions and emotions. The performance is a testament to the imperfect ways we transmit and receive messages, inviting the audience to engage in a visual dialogue and uncover the secrets encoded in movement.

The creative team behind "Face to Face" includes Ivy Wang (Concept, Dramaturgy & Video Designer), Henry Mak (Assistant Video Designer), Wen Yang Ho (Music and Sound Designer), Chris Malkowski (Lighting Designer), and Adam X (Costume Designer), among others. This collaborative effort is brought to life with the support of co-producers Festival TransAmériques, Montreal, and Citadel Compagnie, Toronto, and funders including the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts, & Festival TransAmériques.
