This All-American showcase, happening on Sunday, March 2 at 2:00 PM, centers around the extraordinary range of the orchestra’s smallest instrument, the piccolo, in Lowell Liebermann’s Concerto for Piccolo and Orchestra. 

Under the baton of Maurice Cohn, with Lisa Meyerhofer as the Assistant Principal Flute and Piccolo, the program promises an intense and emotional journey through music. The lineup includes Missy Mazzoli's "These Worlds In Us," a piece known for its intense, emotional writing for chamber orchestra. Following this, the spotlight shines on Meyerhofer as she takes on Liebermann’s challenging concerto, showcasing the piccolo's versatility and range. The afternoon will also feature Erich Wolfgang Korngold's "Theme and Variations, Op. 42," and conclude with Kurt Weill’s "Symphony No. 2," a 20th-century masterpiece penned after Weill's escape from Nazi Germany in 1933.
