Pianist and composer Mikael Darmanie performs an eclectic program showcasing the musical perspectives that have most influenced his own, from Olivier Messiaen, Robert Schumann and Alexander Scriabin to Erykah Badu. Darmanie says, “At first glance it’s giving music-streaming-app-playlist-on-shuffle vibes, but at its core, it represents the intersection of two disparate systems: the eclecticism of today’s algorithmic based society and the indifference of nature.”

Leading lady of neo soul and avant-garde fashionista Erykah Badu burst onto the scene in 1997 with “On & On” from her Grammy-winning debut Baduizm. Since then, she’s garnered chart-topping singles, including “Tyrone” and “Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip Hop)” featuring Common. Joining the night is prolific rap producer and Eminem’s long-tenured concert DJ, The Alchemist, and legendary Hip Hop group De La Soul—reemerging after a nearly decade-long album hiatus with beloved throwbacks like “Me Myself and I” and tracks from their 2025 release, Cabin in the Sky.
