The University of Iowa's Department of Theatre Arts proudly presents William Shakespeare's timeless tragedy, "Macbeth," directed by Mary Mayo. This innovative production reimagines the classic tale, exploring the themes of morality, power, and the human condition through the lens of Macbeth, portrayed as three distinct figures. Set against the backdrop of his foretold kingship, the play delves into Macbeth's ambitious quest for power and his subsequent tragic fall from grace. Director Mary Mayo brings a fresh, embodied exploration to the stage, highlighting the influences that guide our decision-making processes.

Audiences are advised that the performance includes the use of haze and portrays scenes of violence, including violence against and the death of a child onstage. These elements are integral to the storytelling and contribute to the immersive experience of Shakespeare's dark and powerful narrative.
