The University of Iowa's Department of Theatre Arts proudly presents "In the Red and Brown Water" by Tarell Alvin McCraney, directed by Caroline Clay. This compelling production will take place at the David Thayer Theatre, located at 200 North Riverside Drive, Iowa City, IA 52242. The play, inspired by Federico García Lorca’s "Yerma" and Yoruban cosmology, is a lyrical exploration of a young woman's journey through love, community, and self-discovery amidst the challenges of caring for her ailing mother. It navigates the complexities of coming-of-age, infused with ancestral myth and ritual.

Audiences are advised that the play contains explicit language, sexual themes, culturally charged and explicit language, the use of haze, and strobe lights. The performances are scheduled as follows:

- Friday, April 12, 2024, at 8:00 pm
- Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 8:00 pm
- Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm
- Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 8:00 pm
- Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 8:00 pm
- Friday, April 19, 2024, at 8:00 pm
- Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 8:00 pm

Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Hancher Box Office by calling 319-335-1160 or online via their website. The Box Office at the Theatre Building will also open one hour prior to each performance for ticket sales on an as-available basis, unless the production is sold out.
