Immerse yourself in an evening of profound storytelling and artistic expression with "The Just and the Blind," a multimedia performance that delves into the heart of the experiences of incarcerated youth and the challenges faced by their families. This compelling event features the collaborative genius of spoken-word artist and arts activist Marc Bamuthi Joseph and composer and violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain. Together, they weave a narrative that confronts racial profiling, sentencing disparities, and the complexities of the prison-industrial complex, all through the lens of Black and Brown fathers.

"The Just and the Blind" is not just a performance but a journey facilitated by poetry, music, movement, and visual projections, guiding the audience through a landscape of unseen and under-heard stories. Commissioned by Carnegie Hall and produced by Rika Iino and Melissa Higgins of Sozo Artists, Inc., with Annie March as the touring producer, this event is a testament to the power of art in sparking conversation and change. It is presented in partnership with Sozo Impact, with generous support from the Ford Foundation and special thanks to the Miami Light Project.

This program also marks a collaboration with the LA Phil Insight initiative, supported by Linda and David Shaheen, showcasing the commitment to addressing systemic issues through the arts.
