Join us for an enchanting evening under the stars at the Waikiki Shell on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, as the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra (HSO) presents "Symphonic Dances" as part of the Starlight Festival. This groundbreaking event marks a first for the festival, featuring a harmonious blend of dance and orchestra. Under the baton of the renowned Sarah Hicks, Hawaii's own celebrated conductor, the HSO will perform Rachmaninoff’s "Symphonic Dances" in collaboration with the Hawaii Ballet Theatre, promising an unforgettable experience for both classical music aficionados and dance enthusiasts.

The evening will also spotlight a special performance by Mira Tsunoda, the talented alto saxophonist and winner of the 2023 Nā Hōkū Ōpio Young Stars music competition, adding an extra layer of excitement to the night. The program includes a rich selection of works, from the lively "Die Fledermaus: Overture" by Strauss Jr. to Tchaikovsky's mesmerizing "Swan Lake Suite" and the vibrant "Polovetsian Dances" from Borodin's "Prince Igor," culminating in Rachmaninoff's majestic "Symphonic Dances, op.45."
