Enjoy food trucks, artisan crafts, and dancers on the plaza beforehand—then continue the party in the concert hall as you clap along to music from Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, and more. Composer Arturo Márquez describes the trumpet as “the Mexican cry of joy and sorrow” and José Sibaja proves this as trumpet soloist in Marquez’ Concierto de Otoño (Autumn Concerto) on not one, not two, but four different instruments! This high-energy concert concludes with Rimsky-Korsakov’s vibrant Capriccio espagnol, which was directly influenced by folk melodies of Spain.

The program features an eclectic mix of compositions, including works by Norman Dello Joio, Astor Piazzola, and José Elizondo, and showcases a special Klezmer collaboration with the ensemble Mostly Kosher.

Pioneering composer John Adams conducts a marquee lineup of Cleveland Orchestra premieres, including his Frenzy, an audacious work that reflects our dizzying modernity, and his own arrangements of Astor Piazzolla’s irresistible Argentine tangos. Following a contemplative fugue by Ives, pianist Aaron Diehl takes center stage in a concerto composed for him, Timo Andres’s delightful American pastiche Made of Tunes.
